Con Boland's Garden was awarded Garden of the Month. You can read the full, ten page article in the Canadian Gardening Magazine, May 1996 issue.

The wonderful article in the Canadian Gardening Magazine, 1996, depicts a story of the hard work that Con Boland has done to become one of Edmonton's well-known gardeners. It speaks of two extra-ordinary histories; the tree-lined streets in the Riverdale, and of European Master Photographer Con Boland.

Among those stories told, one is of how Con Boland's love of gardening began in his early years as a young child in northern Holland. Con Boland's father, who was at one time the president of the fuschia society, grew 147 varieties.

The family would often take day trips to visit Holland's Keukenhof Public Gardens. Con Boland also had a small plot of his school's garden, in which he sowed seeds and raised vegetables for a class project. These natural gardening talents have stayed with Con Boland throughout the years, and he continues to treat his garden with the same artist's eye he treats his photography business with.
